Nobody hates the machine.
They hate that nobody signed it.

The market did not reject the technology. It rejected output that arrived with no person standing behind it. "Slop" is simply the name for text nobody answers for.

The moment someone does answer for it, reads it, cuts it, puts a name on it and something at stake, the same paragraphs stop being slop. Not because the words changed. Because someone now stands behind them.

Stand behind it

Form SB-1 · Office of Standing Behind

Paste any text. Yours, a machine's, anyone's. Read it. Cut what you would not defend. Then put your name on what is left.

Nothing is sent anywhere. There is no server behind this form. The seal is drawn in your browser and disappears when you close the tab. What persists is that you meant it.

What the signature changes

Nothing about the words. Everything about who answers for them.

Unchanged

The sentences

The facts, right or wrong

The tool that drafted it

Changed

Someone read it before you did.

Someone can be asked why.

Someone loses something if it is wrong.

That last line is the whole product. A stake is what makes a claim different from a noise. Anonymous output has no stake, so it costs the reader everything to check and costs the sender nothing to send. Signed output moves the cost back where it belongs.

This is a price, not a protest

It is tempting to read the backlash as people rejecting a technology. Look at what they actually pay for. Nobody boycotts a paragraph because a model touched it. They stop reading when there is no one to hold to it. The same essay, edited and signed by a person with a reputation to lose, is read, quoted, and paid for.

The market is not screaming that generating is bad. It is screaming that generating is worthless, and standing behind is what it will pay for.

That is a pricing signal, not a Luddite position. Generation has fallen to roughly the price of electricity. Accountability has not, and cannot, because it requires a person who could have said no. When one input goes to zero, all the value flows to the other. So the value went to the standing-behind.

Which is good news for anyone willing to sign. The tool is not your competitor. Anonymity is.

A signature is not proof of quality. It is proof of accountability, which is the thing that had gone missing.
